The intention of this thread is to post a little history of a family member currently attending the Sweet 16 Class and to share your support for the PEP program and what you see it doing for your loved one.  Here goes mine...

My name is Paul Dupre IV and i live in Tulsa Oklahoma.  I am an accountant and have been married for more than five years.    My brother Jesse "Sweet Beetlejuice" Dupre is a member in Class 16.

Sweet Beetlejuice has had his share of ups and downs.  From the birth of his beautiful daughter Savanah to being imprissioned for bad decisions.  One thing that i can say for my brother is that he is a fighter.  It would seem that if you looked at the timeline of my brothers life, it has been an uphill battle.  Some of this has been his own doing and some of it he had absolutley no control over.  None the less, God has always been watching over my little brother.

Some bad decisions led to him being incarcerated in April of 2008.  He had just celebrated the birth of his daughter the summer before and had come on hard times.  while improssoned, instead of letting it get him down, he chose to see the silver linning.  God opened his eyes for the first time to where his life was going.  You see in retrospect, he realized that his life was spraling out of control and that things were getting worse by the day.  Money was tight or non exeistent, his job was tough and draining on him and he was not getting much support from his then girlfriend, the mother of his daughter.  He made a bad decision and it landed him in jail facing some serious charges.  He was convicted and sentenced to four years later that year.

He found God through the chaplin program and started to realize that he had been living his life all wrong.  He was relying on himself and he came to realize that it was not nearly enough.  He started to understand what it really meant to give it up to God and walk the path of the righteous.  He finally realized that God wanted him for his kingdom and that he had been forgiven of all of his past transgressions.  He finally realized that God loved him and wanted him!  That God had never left him but had been waiting anxously for him to call out.  When he did it was like God was waiting on the edge of his seet ready to jump up and pick Jesse up in his arms and tell him how much he loved him and how glad that he had come back.

From the point on, it is like i have gotten my brother back.  I finally see that man that i have been longing to see.  There is an aura of respectability and confidnece for the first time in my brother.  He feels it and believes it for the first time in his life.  Truly believes, that through God, anything is possible.

Then comes the PEP program.  It has facilitated in taking this fledgling confident man and has begun to show him how he can take that confidence and become the man that he was always meant to be.  PEP is giving him the tools and knowledge to go with that confidence and become a bone-a-fide contributing member of society.  It is programs like this that shows me, that we as a society have not given up on our fellow man.  That we still believe in the merit of the person regardless of what road they have taken to get to this point in their life.

I know that I am not the first and will not be the last to say, Thank You.  Thank you for giving my brother, along with all of his fellow classmates, a chance to change their lives for the better.  Thank you for the believing in the very men that most of society has chosen to write off for good.  Thank you for giving them time!

I want to close by thanking God for this program and these people and pray that you look down on them with favor and take care of them.  For as it is said in Matthew 25:40 ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Thank you from a blessed brother,

Paul

I strongly feel the same way about my brother Erik Vega who is in the Sweet 16 class as well. I am so glad that he found PEP or that they found him. Ever since he heard about the program hes been nothing but excited, then when he got chosen it was all uphill from there. He is not only doing extremely well but he is so happy. I can truly say that I see a change in him. My family is extremely proud of him and is eager for his return.
